Computers FOR Development is a Dutch based foundation aimed at promoting the use of refurbished computers and other hardware for sustainable development through the use of ICT in education. Our mission is to share the technology of rich western countries with people in the least developed countries.

300 computers donated during the HME2009 event at the Jaarbeurs in November

Computer FOR Development participated  with an information stand at the HME event at the Jaarbeurs from November 27th till 29. The annual  event that attracted over 30,000 visitors also lead to donation of over 300 computers in support of Computers For Development activities in Africa.

Most of the visitors to the event read about the possibility to donate Computers at the event in the HME magazines that were published earlier in the month. A radio campaign done by HME one week before the event with support of the  famous entrepreneur  Harry Mens  asking  general public to visit our stand  contributed to attracting attention and creating curiosity for visitors to the event.

The presence of the students from Da Vinci College Dordrecht who went around distributing fliers to exhibitors also contributed majorly to the promotion of our activities. The Da vinci college students have been refurbishing and testing all donated computers through the refurbizz  programme  and they wre deligheted to learn about all donated hardware as that means more technical work for them as part of their study.
