CFD and Amsterdam Council – Support on the Job training and making hardware available for developing countries through “ Learning by Doing’’  practice within 3 schools in Amsterdam West

Since January 2005 CFD joined the forces with Diensten Desk Amsterdam and Amsterdam Council to support  with `learning by doing` education in Amsterdam-West. MBO and VMBO Students from NOVA Esprit, ROC ASA ICT Academy and ROC van Amsterdam are doing their internship on Computers For Development projects at their schools.

This is a great achievement for CFD, being a fast growing organisation with a lot work and less capacity to manage the work flow to be able to realise CFD goals.
DDA brought CFD in contact with teachers and practical coordinators in the  schools. Students from ICT, administration, Marketing & Logistics studies will be attached to different departments within CFD to learn on the job.
    • At the end of February ICT students; 30 VMBO, 10 MBO started with the refurbishing and configuring of computers. For this to happen, Nova Esprit College and the ROC Asa offered several  working-rooms in their schools for the CFD projects;
    • VMBO and MBO administration students worked from march on  administration support, handling the transportation and customs documents;
    • The support of the national and international logistic processes, PR and communication will be handled by  students from Marketing & Logistics.
    • The marketing students will also be involved in fundraising and event organization within CFD
The  schools involved have offered work space for CFD to be able to accommodate as many students to learn  as well storage rooms to store the computers within the school compounds in Amsterdam. The coordination and coaching of the students is done by IT coaches provided by CFD and all this has been made possible through a subsidy from Amsterdam Council.
